After lunch we had some down time, I read Maya Angelou poems people had posted on Facebook to Dorothy. T and Eva arrived minus T’s bag but it arrived before we left for dinner. Dirk and Jean Pascale treated us to a champagne tasting and 5 kinds of macarons (not to be confused with macaroons) under the canopy at the solarium above our hotel. View was spectacular. We learned about the making of champagne and a French herb, vervena. Then a short (Mini) drive back to St Paul de Vence for a wonderful dinner at La Colombe d’Or surrounded by works of Picasso, Miro, Calder and Chagall. Dorothy and I shared the local Sea Bass, T had chicken with sausage, Carol had Turbot with vegetables, Bob had rabbit and the others enjoyed steak. Dorothy and I also shared white asparagus that tasted like artichoke hearts. Chocolate mousse was the most popular dessert. The restaurant ended our meal with some kind of jet fuel liqueur and a straw of dark chocolate. Only two cars got lost getting home (less than 1 km). Sweet Dreams – tomorrow starts early.
